What is the history of Ashleyville and Maryville?
Answer
Ashleyville and Maryville are unique West Ashley neighborhoods adjacent to one another and bounded on the south by St. Andrews Boulevard (which divides the two) and the West Ashley Greenway, west by Diana Street and West Oak Forest neighborhood, north by Old Town Creek, and east by the marshes of the Ashley River. They are important historically African American neighborhoods that today have a diverse makeup of residents and architectural character, only three miles from the Charleston peninsula by vehicle.
