Choose Book as source material.  Click on scan button.  Accept copyright agreement and click to proceed.

From within the app, section 1 allows you to adjust source material.  If you did not choose Book at the prior step, you can change it here.

In section 2, you can click on the Gear icon above the Scan button.  Go to scan mode and change from Auto-split to Book Mode.  Click accept and scan documents as normal.

The KIC software will remember your scan setting for all additional scans in this session.  It will reset to default (Auto-Split) once you click on the red End Session Button.

What is Book Mode?

The Book Mode scan setting has multiple aspects that it enables with scanning.

  • It will attempt to identify the curvature of the page and adjust the image to straighten the lines.  This may lead to a slight distortion of the curved text.
  • It will automatically auto-crop each page to the immediate area of the text with a small margin of blank space.
  • Because it autocrops to a small margin around the text, it allows you to press down on the book with your hands to reduce curvature, and it should autocrop your hands from the scan.  This is dependent on the margins of the source book.
