We have site license access to The Atlantic and access to print versions through various databases.

For website access you can select The Atlantic from the Libraries’ A-Z Databases List.

If accessing from The Atlantic website, scroll to “Accessing a group subscription?” and click “Sign in” through your institution. Select College of Charleston from the drop-down menu and log in using your College of Charleston credentials.

App user, follow these instructions:

1. Download the app for iOS or Android

2. Tap the Settings button at the top-right of the Today screen.

3. Select “Sign In” and scroll down to “Sign in through your institution.”

4. Find your institution from the dropdown list and sign in with your credentials.

5. Enable push notifications for essential stories, and start exploring the app.

Print issues of The Atlantic can be found via several different databases

To access these databases directly:

  1. Go to the library’s homepage and click the “Journals” tab in the Discovery search box.
  2. Search for The Atlantic, then choose a listed database (such as Newsbank Access World News Research Collection – 2024 Edition) to view available articles.

Most recent print issues as well as web edition articles can be accessed via the Newsbank database. These issues and web articles are subject to a short delay and won't be immediately available.

 Once inside Newsbank:

  • Click “See Related Sources” under the journal title.
  • Select “Atlantic: Web Edition Articles” from the list.
  • Search by article title, author, keyword, or browse by date.

You can also find older content through other databases listed in the Discovery record.
